Relevant Experience

Consultant – Nov. 1991 to current
As a consultant I provide Project management, Technology planning and Business analysis services. I routinely match technologies to business plans and objectives. My primary goals are delivering solutions that enhance a clients operations and reduce costs along with discovering new revenue sources. Currently I am working with a start-up doing all the technology analysis, planning and deployement stages as well as working with vendors, suppliers, negoiating contracts, SLAs etc. Their goal is to deliver a cloud computing service solution to the Canadian market. The project also involves a lot of Web 2.0 technologies, SEO work and product development and marketing analysis.

I have a number of clients who rely on my strong technical ability as well as keen understanding of customer service to help them run their businesses.  I also provided training in the areas of general computer usage, maintenance, application support and Internet usage.

WebServe Canada -  Oct. 2005 to Aug. 2008
Director of Operations

I managed the day to day operations of the company. I was responsible for all aspects of the business: sales, marketing, financial/accounting matters, human resources and technical systems. I am highly focused on customer care and retention along with being dedicated to staff performance and retention. My responsibilities included strategic planning, product management and financial reporting as well as cost control and revenue generation.

My role demanded I exemplify the leadership, communication and interpersonal skills necessary to grow a company in a highly competitive and dynamic industry. I lead by example and showed my staff what it takes to achieve our customer’s expectations and our own.

I achieved and maintain success in a fast paced environment with a “do what it takes” attitude. Getting the job done right the first time requires co-ordination, communication, trust and a belief that we succeed by working together. I empower my staff to act in the best interests of the customer and solve problems in a way that meets our business objectives.

I have demonstrated experience in human resource management and planning and am an accomplished supervisor of people in a complex environment. I am a strategic thinker that takes initiative and has strong coaching skills along with a proactive solution approach. I called on all of these skills to help me achieve success in this role.

Every day my organizational and multi-tasking skills plus the ability to handle details are put to the test and honed. There is something new to learn every day and some new way to help our clients and better ourselves. We adapt and change as required and in doing so get better at our core abilities and strengths.

I have personally built and trained a great staff of professionals with diverse cultural, education and life experience backgrounds. Each member of the team is allowed work in their strengths and assist in areas they aren’t as comfortable with. This way teamwork becomes “success”-work and everyone can assist with most of our clients needs. Everyone is allowed to play a role in our success and not just be a part of it but actually be responsible for it. In doing so we also recognise their achievements individually.

Since joining WebServe I more than doubled the customer base along with increasing profits and more than doubling revenue. I am also very proud that we were able to celebrate our best sales month ever in March 2008. This position is in an industry that has my passion but it is time for new challenges. I know as I leave WebServe it will continue its phenomenal growth and is better prepared for the future as a result of my time there.
